On Wednesday, May 22nd, the Alexandra Lehmler Quartet paid us a visit to record another Studio Konzert together with our sound engineer Philipp Heck live in front of an audience. This is now the second collaboration from which a live album was created, the last one was released on vinyl five years ago titled "Alexandra Lehmler Live".

The fully analog Studio Konzert had a very special twist: besides Alexandra Lehmler on saxophones, Matthias Debus on bass and Franck Totiller on vibraphone, the drummer Patrice Héral used digital delay and effetcs to incorporate distorted vocals and stuttering samples into the music. Adding this electronic element the ensemble skillfully switched between chorus and several solo improvisations. The original compositions of Lehmler and Debus are difficult to classify, as this modern jazz takes inspiration from pop and world music and much more. They prove that instrumental jazz can be very intriguing, even "sans mots" - without words.
